Webadmin hangs in login procedure

Hello;
I have tried to find a resolution through previous posts, but nothing applied. I need some troubleshooting guidance. I have Astaro firewall home edition installed for some time, confugured and running w/o too much problems, or supervison from my part. Once in a while I open Webadmin to check some of the dashboard indicators. Last time I did this was a couple of weeks ago, and today I tried to do the same, but I cannot get past webadmin screen. I enter admin and password, the screen goes into processing, and never returns success or error. The firewall is working (traffic is going through - and I'm able to post this message) but I cannot get to the management interface. 
I've found somewhere how to reset webadmin password using cc etc, and done that (from the console, as root). 
Apparently that process worked as designed, but as soon as I went back to the login screen, that hung again. Not sure how to find what the problem is. Any suggestions are hignly appreciated.

    Hi everybody,

    is there anything new on this topic? For a couple of days I've been experiencing the same problem.
    The system is working just fine, internet, email, everything is running as it's supposed to.

    The only thing that stopped working a some month ago is scheduled up2date installations. I've never taken the effort to take a look at logs, because manual installation of the packages (meaning going to Webadmin and clicking the install button) did work.

    Now suddenly I can't login anymore. Neither with the preinstalled admin user, nor with any remote users (Active Directory). Authentications are working though. If I enter wrong credentials I get an error message about that (and curiously the associated email notifications). But if the credentials are correct I end up with "Please wait, logging in".

    Then suddenly I got an error message via email yesterday: 
    Firmware Up2Date installation failed: Errors during the package installation, installation failed (10)

    Please check the up2date log file for detailed information.


    Can someone tell me where to find the archived logs? /var/log only seems to contain today's logfiles.

    Reboot has been tried of course.

    By the way: End User Portal is working just fine...
