Snort not running - restarted

Hi,

I keep getting emails from my astaro saying that snort has been restarted, most days there seem to be at least one and sometimes more. I also notice that when it happens connections break. How do I debug this? The IDS and Selfmonitoring logs both show it happening but don't have any information regarding why it stopped and was restarted, just that it happened.

    Hi, which version of Astaro are you using?

    Please give the exact version #, e.g. 8.001

    Also, check the hardware reporting graphs to see if you have enough RAM, etc.

    Not many users here (just a home lan with a few servers, a couple of wireless subnets and suchlike - only 3 users, but 2 of us quite heavy (lots of downloads of big files, web browsing and streaming video), so probably at the bigger end of home / smaller end of small office type of utilization), so I didn't expect hardware to be an issue. I did put 2GB of ram in the box as soon as I'd been running astaro a few days as I noticed it was paging a bit, although even then it seemed OK on 1GB. Now it hovers around 50% all the time. CPU is a little more worked, it's only an old 1.8GHz Celeron, but under this kind of load I expected it to be enough. It does spike to 100% quite a bit looking in the logs, but only when scanning a big download etc. Here's my last weeks CPU reporting:
