Home network config trouble

Hi everyone, new to this forum, lookin for a little help.  Running a linksys WRT54g router, and astaro 8 home license.  

Astaro IP is 192.168.1.2
Router is 192.168.1.1

When I connect to the firewall directly with a laptop (192.168.1.105) I can get online just fine, however if I try to connect my router or even a simple switch, can't get connectivity.  try pinging, says unreachable.  Any ideas?  Sure this has  been asked before but after my basic search turned up nothing, I went this route.  Thanks for the help in advance.

    Hi, and welcome to the User BB!

    The built-in search function here is really weak.  A better way to search this forum is with google; just include site:astaro.org in the search string.

    It's not clear from your description where your router is in relation to the Astaro and your internet connection.  Generally, you'll find that the home users here have their cable/DSL modem in bridge mode.  Those with a wireless router use it behind the Astaro with the Astaro plugged into one of the switch ports, leaving the router's WAN port unused.  Some people leave the router doing DHCP, others turn it off in the router and use the Astaro DHCP.

    The User's Manual is your friend [;)] - it can be downloaded from WebAdmin in the Support section.

    Browsing the forums, I found some similar cases to mine and managed to get connectivity over my wireless router, aye going through the switch port, using the astaro for DHCP. Only issue left seems to be getting my DNS working. I'll see if my modem has a bridge mode. User manual is pretty cyptic, 1/2 the reason I underwent the project was to self test my knowledge of networking and learn a bit. Learning experience it's been! Thanks for the help.
