Blocking ADS Request

There's a categorization named "WebAds" available, but it's not in any of the categories supplied by Astaro.  You need to go to the 'URL Filtering Categories' tab and creat a new category with Web Ads.

I am using standard ASG categories or at least on my version of ASG there is a web ads box within one of the categories.

I moved the wed ads to the suspicious category.

you also need to include something like this in your blocked sites to stop absolute addressing.

With the home version/Trial I already had created a new Categorization called "Web Ads" but to no avail. No specific data was readily available as ADS in Astaro. Basically, I had to create my specific ad data from scratch and add advertisers inside this WebAds rule painfully one by one.

However, I see that you placed your WEB ADS in the "suspicious" category... thus anything labeled suspicious would be blocked.
You could just make it **** or whatever category best fits closest to Web Ads. 

I still have that Hersey Chocolate for you anyway.  

I had many options available to block MANY MANY ads, however the most feasible, cheapest and fastest -screen Scapers- (create PF groups automatically) is to block the request at my DNS. While its not the best solution its feasible until a better solution becomes available at the Firewall level.

Currently now pointing all my requests to my simpleDNS hosts file loaded on my webserver box (both primary and secondary) for local requests, Cable and OpenDNS for non local requests.

This way I have have 100,000 blocked hosts with no problem. ..... until the next chapter in Astaro.

Hi Mike,
an extract from daily report.
Also how is your proxy configured. standard, transparent, not that I think that makes much difference.
You do need to check your fall back profile as well as the user profile.
The web ads will be ticked in one category and if you allow that category and have it ticked in a blocked category then the ads will pass through.
I can't remember where the default for wed ads lives, just checked my 7.507 box and web ads was not enabled.
