Internet Speed dropping 50% through Astaro

The last several days I have noticed poor speeds from my Internet.  I have a 20Mbps connection, and normally get speed test results very close to this and sometimes over this.

I am running ASG 8.001.  At first I thought it was my ISP or the time of day, but today I plugged directly into my cable modem and performed the speed tests.  When plugged directly into the modem I am getting speeds over 20Mbps.  Doing the same exact tests to the same server plugged back into the ASG, I am getting less than 8Mbps, and in some cases less than 4Mbps. 

I have never noticed this problem until the last few days, and I have been running on the same hardware for probably 2 years, throughout the different versions of ASG.

I don't remember making any changes that would affect this, but I was looking for advise on things to check in the config that could be causing this slowdown in throughput.

Any Ideas?

    I think I found the culprit, although I have had this setting like this for a long time, I have no idea why it just all the sudden caused the issue.

    Under QoS I had setup, what I thought was a bandwidth pool of 1024 Kbps for streaming media.  On the status screen, there is Internal and Internet

    The Internet setting was enabled and set for:

    Total available uplink bandwidth: 2048 kbits/sec
    Total available downlink bandwidth: 20480 kbits/sec

    For my 20Mbps download and 2Mpbs upload.

    The Internal setting was disabled.

    After I disabled the Internet QoS and ran the speed test, it was almost twice as fast.  I am going to elave these settings off and maybe revisit the QoS at a later time to fully understand it.

    Hi scmiles,

    You need to think the way astaro works, while you are setting up QoS. First of all, astaro can't do QoS for incoming traffic to an interface. You should consider how physical ethernet ports works. 

    If you want to control DOWNLOAD traffic you can't set QoS on EXTERNAL interface as download means incoming traffic to that interface. So if you want to QoS download traffic you need to set QoS on INTERNAL interface. Because astaro can QoS outgoing interface and download traffic means the traffic LEAVING INTERNAL INTERFACE.

    Hope you get the idea. Once you figure out how QoS works, its easy to achieve what you want.
