ASG110 Power Supply

Greetings

Gone through all the posts in this board hoping to find the answer to the following without any success, would appreciate someone's input to the following:

1: have an ASG110 (the old version) which my company was throwing out, but with no power supply. I'm looking around for an alternative replacement.

A: Does anyone know where I can get one

B: From what I understand it is 24V DC with a 4 pin DIN; However, can someone who has one of these units read the back of their power adapter and post which pin is which. That is; which pin is 24v and which is 0v (earth) @ 10, 2, 4, 8 o'clock pins

2: advice on which version ASG I should look to install (the unit has 256Mb PC133 will be upgrading to 512mb which  I believe is the maximum reading through the posts here)

    As to the version, 7.5 will run OK on 512MB IF you ONLY use the PacketFilter and IPS.
    You MIGHT be able to use the HTTP content filter WITHOUT anti-virus.

    I haven't had one of those old boxes laying around in quite a while; we've updated all of our customers to the newer 110/120 units.  To be honest, I would not bother with that old unit, it's going to be rather slow with any of the newer 7.*** builds or 8.*** builds with more than one feature (and maybe even with just one) turned on.

    If I run across one, I'll check out the pinout with a VOM for you.

    If you fairly good with electronics, pop the cover off and look at the board, and the traces connecting to the female connector, they should show you which is ground and which one is DC in.  If not, take some closeup pictures and post them, I might be able to make it out.

    Hi,

    The power supply on my old ASG110/120 says EDACPOWER ELEC. model: EA1050B-240, output 24V 2.5A. I would forget about the newer version's of Astaro it would run too slow. I have installed pfsense, monowall and even windows XP on it. Could never increase the memory to 512k, ever chip I tried didn't work. When I have a minute I will check to see witch pin is 24v.

    Yep, Barry is right.

    BTW there are two hot (24v) pins on the power supply. Looking at the back of the older asg110/120's, holding it horizontally, the pins at the 2'oclock and 4'clock positions are the 24v ones. The other 2 are ground lines.

    Please hook up a power supply at your own risk. I do not know how many different versions of these units were done. My serial# starts with 940300320-

    Many thanks for your contributions and advice, will update this note as to how things panned out.

    Ultimately, believe this has to be stop gap until I go through all the posts on the best motherboard to use. though the motherboard that Barry is using seems to be the most reasonably priced.

    Barry; have you or will you be trying version 8 on this?

    I'll eventually upgrade to v8.

    e.g. a couple running newer Atom D510 systems, which are dual-core but the Supermicro board seems more expensive.

    If you don't mind an onboard Realtek NIC + adding a PCI NIC, there are cheaper options, e.g. the Intel D510 boards mentioned on page 2 of that thread.
