Pogoplug with ASG (v8)

Hello Everyone,

I've been using the Astaro Security Gateway for a while and I haven't had any issues until today. I purchased a Pogoplug (pogoplug.com) and it is supposed to "just work" through your internet. Knowing firewalls like I do, I figured that the ASG would block it from going out. The thing is, the device doesn't work and nothing shows up in the Packet Filter under that IP. The only thing that has shown up for that IP was an ALLOW action for it to check a NTP server.

I was wondering if anybody has had any issues with this or how to get it resolved? I really want to get it working and I don't want to get rid of the ASG.

    Hi,
    what are your packet filter settings?

    internal -> any -> any -> allow will allow all traffic on your network out.

    You will need things like

    internal -> ntp -> any -> drop to force your thing to use the ASG as a time source

    you could setup a packet filter 1
    pogoplug ip -> any -> any -> drop that will stop it.

    Th ASG default is to block everything, so you must have a rule that lets it out.

    When I first setup the pogoplug I didn't set up any rules for it so I could see what the ASG was blocking and allow only what was needed. After I didn't see anything in the logs (and it still wasn't connecting to the pogoplug service), I setup a rule all traffic in and out from the pogoplug's ip. This solution still didn't work. The pogoplug is not connecting to the outside service, it also isn't showing up as being blocked by anything in the Packet Filter log.

    Are you using the HTTP proxy in transparent mode? It may be intercepting the requests; try adding the pogoplug to the skiplist if this is the case.
