Just installed Version 8, question!

So I just downloaded the Virtual Appliance (OVF template), and got it all up and running.

Imported config and all is GREAT!

However, when I use the console, I notice it's running in 32-bit mode. I'm running this on a tank HP ML350 G5 server that supports 64-bit, but I'm noticing that it doesn't even have an 64-bit kernels?

Is the virtual appliance 32-bit only? How can I enable a 64-bit kernel?

    Turns out the Virtual Appliance OVF only has 32-bit kernels installed.

    Went ahead, downloaded the Software Appliance ISO, created a CD-Rom on the imported OVF, and re-installed. During install there was an option for 64-bit mode.

    Installed great and now running 64-bit!

    I don't know why they don't have the 64-bit compatibility in the Virtual Appliance, but if you want it, it's better to download the Software Appliance ISO for now!

    but in this way you ASG virtual appliance lacks of vmware tools...
    Another problem with the virtual appliance provided by Astaro is the SMP support.
    Even with v8 the virtual appliance supports only one cpu!

    I think that it's time the Astaro team must think to better deploy the virtual appliance.
    We need a way to upgrade the vmware tools on the virtual appliance to keep aligned with the vmware infrastructure (vSphere in my case).
