Web login stuck at 81% caching objects

I was adding definitions to the interface and the whole interface stopped responding. Closing the web browser and reopening, I enter the login info and then after authentication, the box states 'Please Wait, Caching Objects' and gets to 81% done and then stops. Now what?

Do you have shell access?
May want to check your system load, find out what is going on.
What version are you running?

Maybe check the httpd.log file.

Not sure if I have shell access... never logged in via that method before. I can login to the console though. The software version is 7.504. Any way to view the log file via the console.

Sure, login as the root user.

Goto /var/log and from there you can view the log files (with "less" utility).
While you are in the shell type "w" to see your system load.

Be careful, step lightly when root.

hhmmm default login and password for 'root' is not root/root. What is the default?

Got in and viewed the httpd.log, anything in particular I should look for?
