Security compared to other offerings

We're in a process where we are testing and looking at Astaro. How secure and stable are the firewall product compared with offerings from Cisco, Dlink and other commercial products?

    OK, all of those are in the same category as UTM devices, so it is apples to apples.  [:)]  Another brand you may want to throw into the mix for comparrison sake is Sonicwall.
     
    If possible, take a detailed look through the GUI's of each product through web demos and/or perusing the manuals.  This is what will let you know exactly what you can and can't do with each.

    You can't go blindly on what somebody recommends. Scott is correct here on telling you try for yourself. It will all depend on your level of expertise and what makes the most sense to you. In the end, any firewall is as smart as the administrator controlling it.

    Your best bet is to test them out yourself. Before we chose Astaro I had run the gamut of products, some with a free demo and others not. The Astaro software in my opinion blew everyone else away in terms of features and pricing. This was a few years back and as others have mentioned some companies cleaned up their software, but I won't be switching anytime soon.
