[7.503] Slow Internet

Hi there,

I found topics talking about security, proxy etc. but didn't help.

Here's the story.
We use Astaro ASG 220 since this year and are running on 7.503 (new version soon).

Our Internet has become slow as hell (16Mbit/1024kbit). Downloads are 50kb most of the time. So, very slow.
Turning off Virusscanner/Proxy etc didn't help.

I read about turning off HT in BIOS but don't think it solves the speed problems.

Any ideas what can cause the slow down? Line is fine. No problems there.

Are there any modems which don't really work with astaro?

Right now we are using an Arcor DSL/DSL+ 200.

Thanks

  • Welcome to Astaro!

Is this a new problem?  When did it begin?

Do you have: Mismatched MTUs?  Bad Ethernet cable?  Dying switch?

This does not apply to Astaro appliances.

  • look on the astaro dashboard.  What's the cpu and swap and disk usage?  Also have you tried turning off the ips?  Have you contacted you isp to see if you are having a line issue?  Your modem could also be going bad...i've seen this more than a few times.  Right now I highly doubt it is the Astaro..not totally ruling i out yet though.

  • Test your DSL Modem; look at CRC errors on the ethernet interfaces, you may have a speed / duplex mismatch.

  • Hey, thanks for your help!

We've done some testings and it looks like we found the bad guy.

Webcache is the reason. After disabling it our speed was back.

RAM went down from almost 81% to 65%. CPU also less active now.

We are also running the new version now, which shows the same effect.

So, could there be anything wrong with the device or is there a webcache bug?
