Can't Surf when downloading a Torrent

Hello all.

I donno where to really post this question, so i am posting it here


Basicly what happens is when i start to download a torrent or upload one, surfing the net or any other kinda internet activity is halted.

Now i am pointing my finger at Concurent Connections being at it's limit per IP address. Now here is another question? How do i go about upping that limit?

    I've found this more often to be an issue on the pc itself then the firewall.  Even running the free home asg license I'm able to run torrents on multiple machines totalling 1MB+ in download speed and still able to surf the web.

    Now, if I have a torrent client open which is seeding far too many files, that machine then has major connection issues.  Sometimes a lan driver update fixes, but more often then not, simply close/stop/remove a handful of torrents solves the problem.  Some torrent clients can also limit connections in their advanced network config, vuze I believe is one of these.

    Could be BitComet that I am using.

    Vuze i can't stand. I just don't like the UI on it 

    Now i have been able surf the web even at 1+ mb but it seems when i get over 50 Connections is when it becomes a problem to do anything else on the net.

    I will look into another torrent client. Any recommendation?

    How many connections are open on the firewall?

    Which license are you using? The old home license had a limit of 1000-1500 connections, but the new one is much more generous.

    Also, you should set the client to not open more than a few hundred conns, less if you have multiple clients.

    How fast is your connection?

    Using Home license. Possiblly an older one to.

    I have 2 machines that do BT. Mine and My wifes.

    We both use Bit comet. So I will look into how many connections it's set to by default, and also i will take a look at the license key to.

    EDIT: Ok I am home now, looking at the license, I have a max of 32000 Concurrent connections. IMO that should be plenty, and I should not be getting anywhere near that number on just 1 computer.

    I'm looking into Bit comets settings and see a max connections of 10.
    I donno. I don't have to be d/ling at full speed to not be able to surf/IM/or do anything on the net.

    It does make me think it's bit comet cause i have had this issue before when i was behind my ISA 2006 firewall.
