How can enable Serial console?

anyone can help me? we used ASG software 7.5, how can enable Serial console in /etc/inittab?

    Some items changed at the command line will not survive a reboot.  Others will not survive most Up2Dates. None will survive a reset.  I suspect most command-line changes will not be backed up, but I haven't seen that issue discussed.
