Dropping Internet Access

Hi,

I think windows 7 try to update patches and u r bandwidth used by that can u check windows update status or check with netstat or may be virus 

can u please keep u r system on for some more time and check

I just installed the latest version of Astaro 7.5.x.  Right now I only have two boxes connected both using Windows 7 and both will simply drop the internet access after a certain period of time.  If I restart the nic then everything works find again.  I have used Astaro before and never had this problem so I am not sure if it is a windows 7 issue or Astaro.  Though I am leaning towards being windows.  Also Astaro has dhcp configured.  Has anything else experienced this issue?

I have a similar problem, also using win 7 and latest version of ASG. A few weeks ago I noticed that my network connection dropped regulary. It happend every 5 or 6 minute and lasts for about 30 - 40 sec. When using a web browser I cant get acess to internet during the "down time". But when phoning via VOIP only the incomming voice are blocked during this time, the other person can stil hear me speak. I have temporarly switched to a HW router until I managed to solv this problems.

there has to be a common thread.  I doubt it's astaro only(if at all) as my network is all windows 7 64 bit and sbs 2008 and i am not having an issue.  What kind of internet access are you all using?  Also what nics are in your astaro machines?

I would suggest you have a look at the power saving settings on the W7 NICs. For some reason the default on PCs is to allow the NIC to be turned off to save power and W7 appears to be pretty aggressive at this.

I reduced most of my connectivity issues by disabling the power saving function.

My network has 2 W7 64 boxes, 3 XP, 1 Vista 32 and misc networking gear. The only boxes that suffered were the new W7 one.

Nics used is a D-link 8PCI005TX4A1 and the onboard NIC on a ASUS P4PE board. Internet acess is 100/100 fibre.
Have used ASG for a year now not having those problems before, but purchased a new box with Win 7 about the same time when it started to apear.
Now running with a HW gateway and it works fine... however want to connect my ASG again.
Since also the VOIP phones are disturbed as well as other computers in my network (both vista and XP) something seems to happen in the ASG. By that not saying that my Win7 system not is the reason to this.
Since the problem ocurs wery regulary (every 5 - 6 min) it would be easy to shut of my win7 system, running the other boxes and/or phone a while to se if the problems stopps with the win7 system not on the network any more.
Will try this on and inform about the result.

try not using the internal and dlink nics and go to intel nics.

My windows 7 pc lost internet access for 3 minutes every time it came out of sleep mode.
I had to make my internal network an exception in Network Security - Intrusion Prevention - Exceptions, skipping anti-portscan.

That's strange.  I have a network of nothing but 7 based machines and have not hit this issue..not saying it doesn't exist for you..[:)]
