Astaro home user internet connectivity disruption

I am a new home user and have the lastest version software installed. Everything works great most of the time but several times a day my internet connectivity gets disrupted for up to 5 minutes and at that time I notice extreme HDD activity on the computer running the Astaro software. As soon as the HDD activity stops, my internet connectivity is restored. I never had this problem on earlier Versions and I even tried a new install and configuration and still the problem continues. Can someone please help me. Many thanks

    Hi, how much RAM do you have, and what CPU?

    It could be the IPS updating, but it shouldn't take more than 30 seconds.

    You could look at the logs for any correlation.

    I have 256MB RAM and it used to work fine til recent updates. The CPU I think is a 1Ghz Pentium

    Thats not much.

    My last box at home was a 1 GHz (with more RAM) and i replaced it over a year ago because it was very high loaded. Can you access the WebAdmin in this time so you can see if it is may swapping a lot?? Or try to use SSH and execute "top" on the command line to see memory consummation.

    That's not enough RAM... the minimum that any Astaro appliance ships with nowadays is 1GB.  I do have a customer or 2 squeezing by, in smaller installations, with 512MB, but 1GB is what I consider the new minimum, especially if you are using any of the more advanced features.
