Product suggestions please

We are a small company with about 70 employees. We have a DSL and a Cable Modem for our internet access. Our email server is a german product called David byt Tobit software. We have an old Sonicwall that is fine, it just wont do what we'd like. We'd like to get a device or software that will provide:

Intrusion prevention
Spam filtering 
Web/url filtering
Spyware/malware protection
Prevent anonymous port 25 relay usage

We were thinking of either the ASG220 or the ASG software.
What are your thoughts?

    Hi, what speeds are your DSL and Cable?

    Besides the 70 employees, how many servers do you have?

    It sounds like you're at the upper-end of what an ASG220 can handle if you are doing Intrusion Protection, Web Security and Mail Security.  You might want to ask for "Full Guard" quotes for an ASG 320 and for a 100-IP software version.  I always recommend the three-year subscriptions.

    If you still have time left on your subscriptions for the Sonicwall, mention that to your reseller.  He might be able to get Astaro to give you credit for that.

    PS In addition to Barry's question would be the number of users who will access your network via VPN.

    You may be able to save some money by providing your own hardware and getting a 100 User license; some resellers (myself included) offer custom hardware that's been tested with Astaro; you might also have an older server lying around that would make a good ASG system.  I have to agree with Bob that 70 users is pushing the limits of what a 220 can handle, particularly with heavier usage.

    I´d recommend to make a 2 week evaluation with an ASG 220 so you convice yoursef whether
    - it is the right product for you and
    - it  is the right appliance model for you (in terms of performance). 

    I agree with Bob, Barry and Brucek that - depending on internet bandwidth and mail/web usage -  a ASG 220 MIGHT  be sufficient but it also might be undersized. A real life evaluation  will tell you quickly.
    It shouldn´t be a problem for any Astaro reseller to supply you with a evaluation appliance short term.

    Are you going to use the Astaro for AntiVirus?  Unless your traffic is pretty lightweight, you'll want a more substantial box than a 220.

    Ölm, I agree that a two-week trial is enough, but that assumes they know enough to configure everything correctly.

    Martco, the good news is that the configuration made on a 220 will work identically on a 320, or any other device that can run Astaro.  Copy a backup onto a USB memory stick, plug it into the 320, reboot the 320 and, voila! – the function is identical.

    Although the 220 might be enough for you now, it likely won't be if your organization grows, or you want to use new capabilities like the HTTP Reverse Proxy planned for V8.  Then again, if you can't yet cost-justify a 320 (or 100-IP with other hardware), a 220 would be a good start.

    DSL is 3 Mbps down 768Kbps up
    Cable is 15 Mbps down 1.5 Mbps up

    We have about 12 servers, mix of 2000-2003. Most of the employees connect to 4-5 Terminal servers using RDP. We do not use VPN yet, but would like to start. And now that I'm thinking about it, it's more like 55-60 employees, all but 10 or so connect via RDP.

    You should try the 220, but prepare management for the cost of 100-IP or a 320.
