I have had some varrying failures when accessing the root console. First, before I can get into some of the hardware abstraction layer integration peices astaro prompts for "Root password change queued" and though not malaligned in my quest, Astero then starts me down the path of no support. My original intention, only to get the fans to spin down and manage the power consumption, I have taken on more responsibility than I am capable of managing without Astaro. Even if that only means assuming trust beyond what I should responsibly. All I wanted to do was stem the tide of deafness. In future attempts, should I execute the HAL integration then "reset passwords" through the Webadmin, then re-cert the certificates? and if that's true, what is to stop this type of rootkit vunerability in the home deployments? I would like to be part of the solution, not the problem.

PS
Should be done by February 2010, just 10 months before the Myan calender runs out.

I know. I could do better but I have a regular job, eat, sleep, and try to get some real human social interactions before it over... [;)]
Thanks
