Slow Boot

Is 45 minutes normal for a boot time?

I'm running the latest version dedicated on an AMD 2600 with 1gb of ram. But it takes 45 minutes to boot up which is like a lifetime. 

In general usage sometimes the machine also goes upto 100% usage and slows down http traffic (about 10-20 in top).

(I run linux servers that will respond to a ping from reboot in like 1 minute so 45 minutes seems very slow to me.)

    Hi,
    If you want low-power, the Intel Atom CPUs seem to be the best bet. See my signature for a very-low power model. A dual-core model, the 330, is also available.

    I was thinking old hardware. What old hardware (cpu) is enough to run for fewer than 10 clients?

    Ok I found a P4 (2.6mhz) and have set that up but I still find it quite slow (it admittedly only has 512 ram). It isn't filtering anything yet, but the webadmin for example is giving the same old messages about timing out and do I want to wait another 30 seconds. Is this normal? Or is there the off chance that the hdd is causing the issues (I am using the same hdd as with the AMD previously). Should I try a new hdd or does Astaro just need a pile of power? I'm about to give up. (Now running 7.5)

    you REALLY need 1 gig of ram for Astaro to run well.  I actually have a minimum of 2 gigs for any astaro installation.

    Barry the refresh was set to 5 seconds. And yes it is a local connection through a hub. Also the firewall only has one network cable in it so it isn't doing any work yet.

    William I agree with the 1gb. Previously when I upped the previous machine to 1gb I noticed it was much better. But this machine doesn't have enough slots. I'll have to get another stick...
