IDS/IPS Best Practices

Hi All

I have a DMZ and internal zone configured on my network. Is it true that the IDS should be enabled on the DMZ zone only so to protect the network? Zone 1 network is not being "seen" by the internet users. Are there best practices when using the IDS/IPS module?
