Request for Kernel Source 2.6.16.62-111

Does anybody know who I email at astaro for the kernel source for 2.6.16.62-111-default?

The current ftp://ftp.astaro.com/pub/GPL_source_code/ is out of date.

As per the GPL this needs to be available.

Thank you,

  • I was surprised to see a clean GPL version of 7.400 this quickly!

  • Hi,
we will release the matching 7.5 GPL iso closely after the final GA version

    Regards Gert
  • Thanks for the update....but that doesn't help me.

I need the 2.6.16.62-111-default kernel source.  Can I ping someone offline to get this? It's what are devices are currently running so we should be able to request the source for it.

    Thanks,
  • You're selling Astaro ASGs loaded with a version that has a newer kernal than what's in 7.400?

  • What kernel is your ASG device running?

I've just checked 6 other clients, all running the latest 7.403 and each are running this kernel version.

2.6.16.62-111 is the currently shipping kernel for ASG devices.
  • I think what Gert is indicating here is that the GPL kernel code is only compiled and released for major version 7.300, 7.400, 7.500.  So the next full compilation would be available after the 7.500 release.
  • Yes, Cath, but he seems to have an ASG with a version of the software that has a differnet kernal than what's in the gpl release.  I don't understand how that's possible.  Maybe there was a kernal change between 7.400 and 7.403; is that your implication?

    Cheers - Bob

  • I think they change the numbers a little just for reference even though it might be the same code but could have minor improvements in it. If you look at the new beta code, it went from 2.6.16.62-112 to the current release.

    gatekeeper:/var/log # uname -a
    Linux gatekeeper.astarobeta.com 2.6.16.62-113-smp #1 SMP Thu May 28 09:21:38 UTC 2009 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux
  • Interesting insight, Billybob.  That would explain why 7.403 is .111 and the second relase after that is .113.  I don't think I'll be worrying about this as I fall asleep though...

    Cheers - Bob

  • The current release version in 7.403 is 2.6.16.62-110.

tmbm50, what version are you running?
  • The current release version in 7.403 is 2.6.16.62-110.

That's weird the kernel version on my ASG v7.403 is 2.6.16.62-111.
