Anyone Tried the $90 SheevaPlug PC?

The SheevaPlug is a small-form factor PC getting a lot of attention today (Slashdot, New York Times Plugging In $40 Computers - Bits Blog - NYTimes.com). You can find more details at: PlugComputer Community. A $90 computer today is amazing, $40 in a couple of years.

Has anyone tried to run the Astaro software on it? For $90 and a USB/Ethernet dongle ($20 at Tigerdirect - USB Ethernet Adapter, USB Network Adapter, USB to Ethernet, Ethernet USB at TigerDirect.com), I could get my parents the best firewall/IDS/etc. And it hardly uses any electricity.

I'd be curious to hear the positives and negatives.

    Unfortunately, there are no USB network drivers available in the Astaro software.

    The SheevaPlug SoC is based on the kirkwood plattform, which is an ARM RISC architecture.
    ASG runs on x86 plattforms only.

    You can build an Intel Atom based system, including 2 NICs, fairly cheap, and they don't use much power... the Intel-brand motherboards are under $100, and then you need a case (Mini-ITX or bigger) + power supply, 1GB RAM, and a 20GB or bigger hard drive.

    Or, if you have an old computer laying around, a fast Pentium III or better is fine for home use. I was using a PIII 800MHz with 768MB RAM until recently.
