Ram is filling up ?

Hello,

im using an compaq evo d510 w/ 1gb of ram.
v7.402 is running fine, except...

after 3 days of using nearly all functions (spam, virus, proxy, filters etc.) the amount of used memory is rising up from around 5x% to now 76%, why that?

is it possible, that after a few weeks the astaro freeze because swap/memory is under heavy load/full usage?

Are you talking about the swap memory or RAM(title says RAM but you mention swap as well)
Is it 76% constantly? Try to uncheck functions that you don't actually use(ie on the intrusion prevention untick the ones that you don't use at all.If you don't have a http server untick the relevant entry).

i actually handle as mentioned.
ips is active but only rules for services and systems im using in the internal network (office, pop3, windows etc.).

proxy in use: http, ftp, mail (just pop3, no smtp in bound).

actually it runs again for 1 hour with 60% ram usage.

ill keep an eye on this indicator.

to give you an idea my ASG boots at about 25% and grows to about 56% after about a week. It sits around this level most of the time, but does vary up and down. One of my older builds, earlier version  of ASG had 1gb and it continually ran around the 70% mark.
I haven't been able to nor attempted very seriously to identify what causes the memory to change.
William and a number of other forum members will tell you the figure you see displayed on the ASG daily reports only represents the memory used for the application component, linux uses about 90% of available memory for caching etc.
With 1gb you will find your memory usage is about right for the functions you have enabled. Also is the display chip part of the motherboard and use some of the on board memory or is it a separate card?

Its an onboard graphic (intel), i cannot change the amount of used ram, its dynamically i think.

this is how linux works..if you aren't using more than 10% swap you are fine.

this sounds good to me.
ill compare it to vistas superfetch (caching all dlls and sysfiles for caching), right?
