Backups hardware dependend ?

Hello there,

is a backup (filter rules, configuration, network security) hardware dependend or can o move a configuration from one v7.401 to another machine with the same release (but e.g. more ram, faster cpu etc.)?

Hi Manuel,

you can move the backup to a new hardware. You only have to check which interface is eth0 etc.

but its possible for me to move/redirect - or better - reorder the new eth-ports, isn't it?

Play around with it, you will see that it's very easy to make changes. The one problem you will have if you move from an ASG220 to an ASG320, for example, is that the license is different. In that case, you will need to apply a new license before you can access WebAdmin. If you have the software appliance, you don't have to reapply the license as it is contained in the backup.
