I am testing out Astaro and have a few questions regarding the basic setup.
My home network setup is as follow. A router connected to a cable modem and multiple PCs connected to the router. The Astaro virtual appliance is also plugged into the router.
router - 192.168.150.1
astaro external interface - 192.168.150.4
astaro internal interface - 192.168.150.4
PCs - 192.168.150.x
Since I am testing this out, I don't want to annoy other people in my household by making them go through the astaro virtual machine. I also want to keep all the PCs on the same subnet so I want to avoid using astaro as a DHCP server.
What's the best setup for me? Do I just setup a http proxy and configure proxy settings on the machines I want to go through astaro? Will the spyware and virus scanning features work in this setup?
Since I am putting astaro behind the router, would it make more sense to get the web security appliance and not the security gateway appliance as the benefits might be the same?
