I get an error message when rebooting about some root file structure being corrupted. It boots up too fast to read the message and I haven't had a chance to look through the boot logs to find out which directory is borked. I ran fsck at the prompt and it asked if I wanted to continue and irreversible damage could happen if I ran fsck on a mounted volume so I pressed N for no. I tried booting into the repair or safe mode but there is no repair or safe mode, it goes right back to the selection menu.
How do I run fsck to correct this corruption? Will restoring from a backup clean things up?
