Activation Key

Hello, 
I just received a second hand Astaro SG 220.
The former owner has made a factory reset in order to cleanup all his settings before shipping to me.
Unfortunately we don't have the original Activation Code.
Is there a way to get a new activation code in order  to create a home license file ?

Another question i have is when i connect to the applicance with the browser, i reach immediately the weblogin page and not the license registration page. How can i reach that page then ?

    I don't think home licenses can be used on appliances.
    If I'm wrong though, you can get a home license at http://my.astaro.com

    After a reset, I would have expected you to get a page asking you to enter new passwords; at least that's what happens with a fresh install.
    If you can hookup a keyboard & monitor, try logging into the console as root with no password. If that works, search these forums for 'password reset'.

    Actually it's a V1 of the 220 appliance. So we don't have a VGA connector.

    We can connect with hyperterminal after the appliance has finished booted, but we can't go further since we have no user/password 
    (root with blank password that i saw in the "reset password" threads doesn't work.

    By the way when the boot is completed we get five beeps ... does this mean anything special ?

    I tried to boot with the "Gentoo 2008 min CD", but since i can't connect to the appliance before the boot is completed, i can't tell in the bios of the appliance to boot on external cd attached to usb :-(

    connecting with ssh is also working ... but we cant login for the same password problem  !

    The passwords are not reset by the reset to factory defaults ?

    Would you have any recommandation to help ?

    Hello,

    BarryG is right...you cant use a home license on an appliance installation... but you could use a software installation on the ASG.

    I dont know for sure if the V1 has an onboard vga connector (not the D-Sub 15, two rows of pins directly on the mainboard)...open the case and have a look.

    there is indeed a J15 connector on the main board. It would be great to be able to attach a monitor, but it seems  that it's not a standard wiring from what I read  in other threads in this forum. 
    Apparently that first version of the the ASG220 was provided with that vga connector in the box,  but since it is a special wiring, i would need to get it from Astaro, but i don't have any support contract [:(]

    My main concern remain to reset the passwords so that i could login to the appliance !

    You're going to either have to 
    1. get the passwords from the person who gave it to you
    or
    2. get the VGA cable and install the standard ISO from a USB CD-ROM drive. Jens is saying the standard software ISO will work.

    #2 is your best bet, as #1 won't help with the license.

    Perhaps someone else here can confirm that cable will work.
    If not, there are electronics shops which will make custom cables, if you can't do it yourself. (assuming you know the wiring)

    Search these forums... some where in here I think I posted a pinout of the old 220 appliance to hook up a VGA connector.

    A home license will not work with an official ASG Appliance ISO installed...you will need to "zap" the drive (fdisk, etc. comes to mind), then install the standard ISO on the system (using a USB CDROM Drive).  Note that the Ethernet ports will appear out of order on the front of the appliance, though... but the unit will work OK.

     dear sir , I have an ASG 220  appliance  With ver 7 and vga , keyboard support ,we purchased as used from one of our customers , then when we rest it to factory defaults its asked us for license file to log to web interface , and told us our license end , we hope if you provide us a soulation for this , thanks
