I am posting this before investing in a new block of static IPs from Quest.
I have a DSL modem/switch in PPPoE LLC/SNAP-BRIDGE mode connected to one of the interfaces on my ASG appliance running 7305.
The interface is configured to grab the Quest assigned static IP through the PPPoE connection via DHCP. THIS WORKS FINE.
I propose simply having Quest (my ISP) swap my IP block from a single static to a /29 (since this is exactly what they do).
At the present ASG displays:
Interface: Internet [Up] on eth3 [x.x.x.x/32] MTU 1454 · DEFAULT GW x.x.x.x
I suspect this will change to:
Interface: Internet [Up] on eth3 [x.x.x.x/29] MTU 1454 · DEFAULT GW x.x.x.x
And I will then have these IPs usable correct?
They provide your multiple IP addresses via DHCP on a PPPoE connection when you run ADSL2+.
Will this work as I suspect or am I up the creek with ASG because for some odd reason will it not allow me to use /29 when DHCP assigns it?
Will my IPs be usable in ASG even if I get connected correctly?
Thanks in advance!
Mike
