VMware Server 2.0 Setup

Has anyone had any luck setting up the new VMware Server 2.0 to the correct settings for host only and/or bridged?

I've tried 9 different combinations to get my settings back the way they were in VMware Server 1.07 but nothing seems to allow me to connect to Astaro Security Gateway via the browser  (192.168.150.5:4444)

Thoughts? Comments? Suggestions?[:S]

    Hi,
    I got mine to work, but haven't been brave enough to connect it to the network because of the security risk I see with multiple IP addresses on a port. One for the ASG and one for the VMserver port.
     Also I don't understand how to get an ADSL connection to work because the ASG requires an IP address on that port to connect to the ADSL modem.

    Yes, like you I had it working for a while under 1.03, but only as an experiment.

    Now I have a low power linux server I want to put the ASG on in VM partition VM 2.xs seems to have changed the rules.

    I don't have my vm version powered up at the moment and won't be in a position to do so until Saturday morning my time. I will add my findings then.

    Hm, and I don't understand your problem *g*

    I'm just using this configuration at the moment 
    -> 1. bridged VMware (VMware Server 2.0) nic connected to LAN switch
    -> 2. bridged VMware (VMware Server 2.0) nic connected to ADSL modem -> PPPoE

    Hi Monarch,
    in answer to your not understanding my problem, it was very simple, incorrect configuration. I reviewed your answer then re-configured the VM. It now looks a lot better. Big test will come shortly connect it to something and configure it using an old config file.

    How did you install the VM tools?

    I had the same question already [:)]. I was told that the ASG setup automatically installs them when it detects that it runs on a VM. 

    Unfortunately the tools included are not up-to-date, but they work anyway.

    Hi Monarch,
    thank you, I have seen your request in earlier thread.

    On my installation of VM2 on a Mandriva 2009 64 bit, only part of the tools function work. The mouse control is still done by multiple keys to release it, no smooth transistion from one screen to the next.
