While DynDNS is a good, reputable service, there are others out there that the ASG should/could support (I'm specifically interested in No-IP). Given the price difference between DynDNS and No-IP, my personal choice is to stick with No-IP and use a host-based update utility, even though I'd be MUCH happier with an ASG-based solution.
At a minimum, I'd like to see the ASG add a generic "dyndns client" configuration that an advanced user can utilize to provide the communication requirements for setup of a custom DDNS service. If nothing else, it would permit a gifted script writer to create a custom scripts with "add" and "remove" arguments for a given DDNS service--provided the ASG would have environment vars available for common fields like username, password, hostname, IP, etc.
It would be even nicer if custom interfaces for the various providers could be built and available.
Edit: I've added a poll; if there are sufficiently large numbers for other dynamic update services, the folks at Astaro might consider this a legitimate feature request.
