Astaro Security Gateway / Web Gateway

Hello All.

Just a quick question....

I have the ASG running on a good box and I have seen the Astaro web gateway on the site.

Whats the difference aside from its not a UTM.

Does the web gateway do anything the ASG does not do ?

Is it worth running it behind the ASG ?

    The Astaro Web Gateway represents the same web filtering package that is included with the utm, however provided as a stand-alone product. It is the same interface, features, and experience as the ASG's web filtering area, and if you've already used the ASG product you'll be quickly at home with AWG (or AMG for that matter).

    What we've done is answered customers who were looking for our web or mail offerings without the firewall,ips,vpn, and other "utm" features, at the best possible price. It is currently sought after by customers that do not have the option/wish to replace their existing firewall/gateway device, by current ASG users who are looking to offload the URL or Mail filtering for management or load needs, or those that are budget minded (and who isnt) and looking for a way to fill a only focused need at this time.

    That was exactly what I needed to know and suspected, It was just that the AWG seemed to do more in terms of malware, javascript filtering ect but if its the same as my ASG then im happy [[[:)]]]

    I will keep hold of my fantastic ASG and licence I got as a beta tester [[[:)]]]
