Sangoma S518 ASDL Card

It would be awesome if the Sangoma S518 ADSL card was supprted:

Sangoma - S518

I'm currently using one of the S518s using Vyatta but it would be nice to use Astaro's web security features.  Adding a second box would be overkill for my little home network.

    Sorry, only Ethernet interfaces are supported. Can you not get an ethernet DSL modem? They don't use much power.

    The problem with DSL modems (at least through my provider) is that they are not a bridging device like cable modems, they are a routing device.  That would mean that the DSL modem would be doing NAT and packet filtering.  Since DSL modems are generally cheaply made they don't have a lot of options and flexibility.  I've used a number that required rebooting the modem for almost any config change.

    Not sure about your provider, but just about every DSL modem (cheap ones and expensive ones) that I've had to use at customer sites, etc. were capable of bridged mode.  If your ISP doesn't have a clue what you're talking about when you call support and ask how to set their provided modem to bridged mode, google the model number, or check DSLreports.com for a faq that covers your particular model.

    And, as BarryG said, Astaro stopped supporting interfaces other than ethernet a couple of versions ago... I think Version 5 may have supported a limited number of Wireless interface cards, but that's just about it. (well, maybe a modem or two, it was before my company became a reseller).
