Uplink failover with static and dynamic WAN ports.

Hey All -

Let me explain my scenario :-

I have installed ASG 7.0 ( latest_asg_v7_software.iso ) from ftp://ftp.astaro.de/pub/Astaro_Security_Gateway/v7/software_appliance/iso/ .

I have two WAN ports - WAN1 & WAN2.

I want to do uplink failover with WAN1 & WAN2.

Once I define WAN1 as a static IP and WAN2 as a dhcp IP then failover does not happens but vice versa ( WAN1 as a dhcp IP and WAN2 as a static IP) works.

I dont understand why its not happening and where I am wrong?

Would request to all of you please look into my query and help me.

Thanks in advance.

Vikash G.

  • I wonder if there might not be a design issue that requires having a fixed IP address for the backup connection.  Can anyone from Astaro tell us what the limitations are?

    Thanks - Bob
