Howdy All:
Over the last year I've chimed in a few times about crazy CPU loads etc and I've finally found the issue. I've been running Astaro (ASG) as a VM and it turns out there is a small problem with the way the ESX handles Linux CPU cycles... I'm not going to get in to the details but just supply the answer.
The pre-made ASG VM I downloaded and was using was not setup correctly to handle time/CPU cycle on a VM. So I took the latest back up and installed ASG on an older server (HP DL360) and it runs better than it ever has (for me).
Instead of the normal 30-40% CPU load when idle I'm sitting at 2%.
Instead of one workstation + web browser causing the CPU to rocket up to 100%, its been peeking instead around 6-7% CPU with 4 workstations (local) and 3 SSL-VPN's running RDP to three of those four local boxes.
Download speeds have rocketed off the chart and the GUI in general is much, much faster to respond. For those of you that remember some of my older posts over the last year, Ive been plagued with random 50-100% CPU loads for no reason that I could find. It simply turns out the CPU cycles were not syncing...
