[FEATURE REQUEST] Please redefine Ctrl-X/C/V

Hello,

this may sound ridiculous to some, but I find it pretty annoying when I press Ctrl-X or Ctrl-C or Ctrl-V and in addition to Copy&Paste-actions, the Interface/Users/Services-definitions are popping up. That's always causing some delay. The ASG7-WebAdmin is pretty slow anyway (ASG6 used to be much faster! And ASG6 wasn't even very quick in the first place).

    Me too!  Other shortcuts would be more appropriate.

    BTW: You can use Ctrl-Ins for copying, Shift-Del for cutting and Shift-Ins for pasting. These are some long forgotten shortcuts, which I accidentally stumbled upon. But I still want Ctrl-C/X/V back!

    I can only support this feature request, too.

    Its quite annoying when you copy and paste data in the ASG console.

    You can use Ctrl-Ins for copying, Shift-Del for cutting and Shift-Ins for pasting. These are some long forgotten shortcuts

    I also know these shotcuts, they come from the good old Works/Word for DOS and Win 3.x times. But since Logitech moved the INS key away besides the scroll lock key you are virtually forced to use the new shortcuts [:$]

    The reason that we decided to use those keys is that they are always sent to the application; other keyboard shortcuts are often intercepted by the operating system/window manager/browser and the webadmin never receives them. Accepting the slight hassle of re-using those shortcuts we saved ourselves the big hassle of having to find keyboard shortcuts that are easy to remember, convenient to type, and work in that multitude of system configurations out there.
    If you come up with a good suggestion that finds general agreement here we'll sure read and consider it.

    You need to log in with your my astaro user id, and you can also see other peoples feature requests.

    I only found this out the other day and added a load to the list, they do get replied to.

    I will add this one to the list.

    I've registered at that site. When I log in, it says:
    Access denied

    You don't have permission to access this area.

    Possible reasons for this are:

    • This is an exclusive area for Astaro customers or certified partners only. If you interested in joining the Astaro partner network, contact us for more details.
    • You misspelled some parts of your URL, try changing it.


    I contacted them last week via the "contact us"-link. No reply.

    • Suggestion 1: Use Ctrl-I/U/S for Interfaces/Users/Services. Ctrl-I is shows the bookmarks-panel, when used in Firefox. But Ctrl-B does the same and is much easier to remember (B=Bookmarks), so Ctrl-I is not needed. When using vBulletin, it intercepts Ctrl-I, so Firefox doesn't receive that keypress. vBulletin can do it, and so can you [[;)]]. Ctrl-U shows the pages HTML-sourcecode. That's not needed in ASG WebAdmin. Ctrl-S is to save the page. Not needed in ASG. Ctrl-I/S/U is also easy to remember, isn't?
    • Suggestion 2: If No. 1 is too difficult/problematic, remove the keyboard shortcuts completely. I will not miss them!

    Thanks for posting andreas, our postings overlapped, so I did not see your comments before I opened the feature request.

    I don't think there is any need for the keyboard shortcuts when every dialog box has the icons to select the appropriate item type or create a new one on the fly.

    Recommend placing the how to copy, cutting, and paste in the manual. This will be the easy fix to the problem and will eliminate any future questions on this topic.
