The company my wife works for recently approached me and asked if I knew of a way to solve a growing problem for them. (not that its really a problem)
They own the entire office building they reside in and lease the rest of the building out in chunks to other businesses. Those businesses continue to come and go as businesses often do, but almost always want DSL/Cable/T1 lines turned on for their section of space.
The question is this: what would be a good way to offer T1 (access) to each business suite as part of the monthly lease to kind of sweeten the deal for people to move in...
I told them I would look to see if Astaro could handle the job.
Normally what I would do is bring in a layer three switch and throw it on the line coming in and then section off each group of drops to each suite. Is this something I can avoid buying, by purchasing Astaro instead? Each office space normally has about 5 computers and there are 16 suites total if you include the owners. (owners suite has 30 computers)
My goal is to kind of kill a couple birds with one stone. Provide better security than they have now, add content blocking which they don't have currently and avoid the cost of a layer 3 switch by possibly using Astaro for all the routing and connect that to a less costly layer 2 switch vlan'ing off all the suites...
Thanks as always for any and all help or suggestions...
Jayson
