Licence scope

I am using my home licence on 993.
The problem is that the counting process counts every IP address that appears on the network whether it goes through the firewall or not.
The list below are the devices involved
1/. ASG internal interface
2/. WAP - ntp (ASG time server) only blocked for everything
3/. 2 print servers - specifically blocked for everything to reduce noise in filter (only one appears in the address allocation table)
4/. a test box - blocked by default
5/. an address that has been allocated to a device in networks but not used yet

Some of these, if not all should be in the "out of scope" column.


I'm seeing the same problem on my home LAN.
My printer and WAP are appearing as being 'in scope'
(Now running 7.302 but have seen it in all 7.3x versions)

Any ideas?

    Make sure your printer and other devices you do not want to show up in the licensing daemon are not:

    1) using the Astaro as a default Gateway (directly or indirectly--point them somewhere else, or don't configure a gateway).

    2) using the Astaro as their DHCP server--assign addresses statically to such devices.

    Hi there all, 

    i think there is a confusion. 

    you need to license all devices which are protected by the ASG. If you have a printserver behind the ASG, than the ASG makes sure that nobody uses one of the many printserver expoits or even prints 1000 pages on your printer. 

    What you guys are talking is just the enforcement. So if we don't see it, than we can't count it. But you still should license it. 

    If you are a homeuser i suggest you take part in on of the next beta versions and we are handing out home user license upgrades to every posting beta tester.
