Resetting Password

Today I just reinstalled Astaro. I wanted to reset the password since I'd imported my backup configuration. I changed it and see it resets the root password, too. I'm fairly new with this and am wondering how to set another root password.

    Actually, the root and loginuser passwords are not stored in the backup file.  Rather, they have to be set, manually, by logging into Webadmin, and going to System Settings, Shell Access Tab.  You will see the options for setting the shell passwords there.

    When you reinstalled, the system essentially has blank shell passwords; therefore it is always recommended that when one reinstalls, or installs, the ASG software, that they take a minute and manually update those shell passwords.  If you use SSH, you'll also notice that the keys change as well.

    Is not restoring the SSH keys from backup a security feature? If not, I think it should do so.

    If I changed the default https port 4444 to 8080, I cannot login to the webadmin page and I do not have the loginuser and root password, what should I do now?

    put an unencrypted backup on a USB key.  Reboot with the USB key inserted, and the backup will be restored automatically.
