7.3 available

The up2date servers already have that up2date package for about 8-17 hours now. I wonder why so many of you are eager to manually download and import up2date packages even though the automatic up2date download will do everything that is needed as fast and reliable as possible. Just go to bed early and install the package the next morning [:D]

Who can sleep when a new update is just a click away. Plus nothing like calling in at work and saying you have been patching the firewall all night and won't be in today. Then go fishing making it a 3 day weekend[[:D]]

Fantastic job Astaro chaps - this update looks fantastic.

The email management is many times better than the previous version - lets hope it works as well as it looks.

Installed 7.3 and after the first 24 hours seems to be pretty stable. There are a few issues I have noted - maybe others can test. My unit is an ASG320 with 1gb ram.

1. bandwidth, especially upload speed seems to be off. My upload speed is less than half of what it should be. Doing some more investigating and am calling ISP to make sure nothing on their end but it could be an issue on the astaro box. Anyone else experiencing this?

2. The last 3 or 4 releases caused higher cpu usage and slow memory leak requiring reboot about every 30 days to "restore to normal". It is too early to tell yet but CPU seems to be running at much lower percentage so far and memory usage has gone only from 40 to 49% in 24 hours ( it is still the weekend and the unit is not being punished yet ). This is lower then the 70% and climbing that was occuring before. We shall see how it behaves Monday morning.

3. interface enhancments are great. Love that we can now select to see more then 10 items at a time in areas like packetfilters, dnat etc.

4. I have reported separately in another thread on this forum on an issue with DNAT rules to "blackhole" that no longer work and cannot be enabled on 7.3.  Please check out that thread if you route traffic to a blackhole address(none existant IP) 

UPDATE: this is now a new feature in that you can no longer select ANY as the source service to prevent opening up all services inbound by mistake. 

5. I can finally join my domain!!!! The Active Directory improvements are long overdue and very welcome!

Aside from that, it appears the astaro is breathing much easier once again. I was getting quite concerned that it was going downhill very fast and was starting to doubt my purchase.

It looks promising once again.
