Astaro User License

We have a Mail Server and 60 users inside our LAN,
concurrently 50 users(Desktops) are using Internet and also accessing Mail server.
Should i go for a 50 User license or more?
Will the Mail Server be counted as 1 or 1 x 50?

    Internal connections to other internal connections (internal computer to internal e-mail server) don't need a license - unless they're using Astaro services.  For example, if the Astaro is giving out DHCP one license will count for each.

    The mail server only uses one license - because it crosses the Astaro to get and send e-mail.

    Every internal connection that crosses the Astaro to external will use one license.  Do you have 50 or 60 internal devices (computers, printers, etc.) that go external (to the internet).  Each one will use a license.

    Thanks for the response.
    We have 60 PC's but being a called center all are not going out to internet same time due to shift jobs.At a time maximum 50 users go out to Internet.
    I would like to know if the License is based on total IP based count or concurrent IP connection.

    In your case, you'll need the 100 user license; We sell this in the following increments:  10, 25, 50, 100, 250, 500, 1000, and unlimited client IP licenses.  Since you have at least 60 clients, plus servers, etc. you will be over 50.  The Astaro licenses each IP for 7 days... if the IP is not used again in 7 days, it is returned to the licensing pool.  So, unless those other 10 machines and mail server are only online, with traffic traversing the Astaro, once a week, you'll be over 50.  If you have any more questions about this, feel free to send me a PM.

    Bruce, is this new in V7? Didn't you have to reset the licenses in the past. I was not aware of this.

    This is how it's handled in Version 7.  It allows for a little more dynamic network environment... in fact, there is no way to reset the license count in Webadmin on Version 7.
