HIgh swap, High CPY utilization

How about a forum for performance issues?
My ASG 220, version 7.201 frequently pegs CPU utilization at 100%. Sometimes it becomes completely unresponsive and has to be power cycled. This is not new with 7.201, it has done this on previous versions too.

I also notice swap file usage about 96-97 %.

Network Accounting is Disabled. Anything else I can do to improve performance?

    Thanks, the thread tip to SSH to console, then switch to /var/mdw/scripts then ./ctasd restart reduces swap file usage. Not sure that will be helpful the next time the unit locks up at 100% CPU because webadmin become unreponsive and I keep shell access turned off by default.

    You can also reset ctasd from the Web GUI by temporarily disabling both SMTP and POP3 proxies, then re-enabling them.

    Had it too on several machines... the ctasd is taking too much RAM & therefor SWAP...  Restarting SMTP proxy did the trick for 4 machines, but did not for one of them.  However, it was OK for several hours and now it goes up again....
    Any news about that?

    If the system is still experiencing high RAM/swap use, restarting ctasd again should bring it down and then it should stay down.  The problem patterns are no longer being distributed and the systems I am monitoring this afternoon have all stabilized.

    Would be nice to know which pattern versions have the 'fix', so people can confirm the issue is resolved.

    The issue wasn't with patterns on your ASG. It was with one of the pattern distribution nodes causing excessive update attempts. That problem was fixed. No bad patterns were installed on your ASG, so there's not a "fix" version to look for.
