HI

I'm a new in Astaro Product

today I received ASG 120 for Our office we have a small office only 14 employees.

I've Windows 2003 it has Active Directorey and DNS. I'm Using a speedtouch modem as a DSL modem.

what is the configuration that I have to change in my DNS, DHCP.

I see the Video Training but it's not show me the change in the Server only it's show the chnage in ASG

also could you please tell me what shall I configure in the Network tab in ASG
Network>DNS
Global>     I have to leave it blank because I've an internal DNS   (am I right)
forwarders> shall i type my DSL modem IP address or my ISP DNS or My internal DNS
Request routing> here what i have to put.


please help i'm new in Astaro product

if any body has a decoument regarding the change in the Server please send me.

    Hi,
    I will help where I can.
    DHCP, leave it on the server, but change the gateway to the internal address of the ASG.
    DNS, on the ASG enable forwarding "use forwarders assigned by ISP", on the server point it at the ASG. Add your internal network to the allowed networks on the DNS tab under Networks DNS.

    ADSL modem, put in bridging mode and setup the ASG external inteface as PPPoE or PPPoA. PPPoE is easier, add your username and password as provided by your ISP. On the external interface tick the box for g/w.

    At this stage add a packet filer internal network -> any (protocol) -> any (network)-> allow. That will get you started while you work out what other facilities you want use and how to enable them.

    thank you for your reply

    what i do is

    eth0    192.168.1.3
    eth1     172.16.0.2
    DG        172.16.0.1 (My Router)

    in the server I only change the DHCP Defaulf Gateway to the eth0 of ASG.
    DNS server forwarder i change it to my router.

    when i try to connect to the Internet VIA HTTP Proxy without packet filter I can't.
    but when i disabled the HTTP Proxy and create a packet filter from internal NW to ANY web surfing it's also not connect to the internet Untill I add a DNS services in the Web surfing packet filter

    why the HTTP Proxy did'nt pass the connection
    when i setup the ASG I go with the installation wizard configure
    I block the MSN and Yahoo Messenger but when i check now it's working why?

    Hi,
    I am not sure why you want the router in place? You end up with double nat'ed packets.

    Did you create masq rule? I suspect you have because your PF traffic gets out.
    In the web proxy page did you set it to transparent, did you add your internal network as allowed?

    In my opinion your DNS setup is too messy and causing some of your problems. If you don't use the ASG DNS forwarders you will need to include a packet filter rule allowing your server access to your router.

    With a packet filter of internal -> any -> any -> allow the MSN and Yahoo messengers will probably get through. With this rule in place you should be able to have open access to all websites, but if you turn this rule off, you will need the rule mentioned above to work with the ASG proxy

    What rules are in your router?
