firewall throughput

Hi all
could anyone please explain what does it mean that for example Astaro 220 supports up to 280 Mbps throughput on the firewall and up to 105 Mbps throughput for the VPN?, what is the throughput for a firewall? I mean for example if I have 100 users accessing the internet is 280 Mbps enough or not?

this is ow much data the firewall can pass through maximum with appropriate configurtions. It has nothing to do with your internet speed(unless you ahave an oc-12 or higher for a wan port).

I know it's not related to my internet speed, but how can I decide that this is enough or not, or I need more than that?

For the most common (surf & mail) purposes, it will be more than enough. It depends on the services, you want to offer.

how fast is your pipe to the internet? if it is less than say 200 megabits..that mahcine should be enough..[:)]
