Hey team,
My ASG box is reporting that I am over my IP limit by one. One of the IP's (192.168.0.2) I know does not exist anymore. It was the IP of the ASG when I was trying to set it up as a transparent bridge. Such is no longer the case. How often does the device assess IP's in use and how does it determine the list?
Also, what will the unit do as more IP based devices are added to my network (I just added my Directv DVR for video-on-demand and that pushed me over)? I think that 10 IP's is too restrictive in this day and age. With Ipods and digital watches using the IP network as well, 10 IP's will be gobbled up in nothing flat.
Also consider your audience: most folks who have way less than 10 IP's in use are 99% likely to go with whatever their service provider feels is adequate protection. Only the advanced user would be interested in going though the effort of setting up an ASG (not an effortless process despite your marketing claims). Folks like this will try to take advantage of the IP network as a common medium for a variety of technologies (VOIP, LAN, etc...).
Is there a method for me to request more IP's for my home ASG?
