Hey guys... 
I have tried to contact astaro.com several times, but they never respond to my emails. 

I have my own IT consulting company, and I might be interrested in offering astaro to my costumers instead of Zyxel Zywall 5´s. 

I will build a small PC, and install Astaro software edition on it. 

But I have 2 questions:

#1: Am I allowed to re-destribute the free software version like that? Or do I need to pay something for it?

#2: What would you recommend for the hardware..? My costumers has 10-80 employees, and all are useing the internet and sometimes VPN, when out of the office. Antivirus and antispam are turned on. Is a 1Ghz VIA C7 or a AMD Geode LX-800 enough, or do I need to move into a real desktop CPU?

    The Free version is free for home users only. Not for business users. It is also only a 10 ip address version.

    A brief reiteration of ReD-MaN's point about the home license being for home use only. The more people abuse this, the worse the home edition will get. So please do not even consider using the home edition for a business. You will increase the chances of harming a lot of Astaro users. I hope you care.

    As for the Astaro hardware itself, I will mention that for dual-scan anti-virus and spam checking and some of the other Astaro features, I would recommend a more powerful processor.

    As there are issues when Astaro will occasionally spike to 100% CPU usage on one core, I would also recommend a dual core box.

    In other threads I have recommended an entry level Dell server. These are quality boxes, affordable, and many of them use the power efficient dual-core Pentium E. Dell also is compatible with Redhat and SuSE Linux as well as Solaris. The hardware is well supported by Astaro in that a number of Dell models are on the HCL.

    But all this depends on how honest you are with your customer. Maybe you charge your customer every time there is an issue with the Astaro box. In that case, marginally compatible underpowered hardware with too little memory will make you more money.

    How do I buy the software versions of astaro? And how much does it cost. 

    As for your support question, my idea is to charge my costumers around 20-30$ a month. The monthly fee gives them free support, and I will also monitor their astaro box by useing the Command Center and Report Manager.

    I dont know how yours IT consulting business exactly work,
    but the jump from zyxel to astaro-on-own-hardware-with-all-gimmicks
    is same like jump from earth to pluto.
