[7.009] Once again: DHCP-Bug

Ok Astaro,

this is the last time i will remind you of this dhcp-bug, i already tried it a few times in this forum...

I'm running a ASG with two internal interfaces and one pppoe-interface. On both internal interfaces the dhcp-server is configured and running and i'm using several static mappings.

And here is the bug:
changing a static mapping to the other internal network (change of ip-address and dhcp-server-interface, both via "edit") leads to stopping of dtcpd, and this is reproducable. Solution is to delete the edited mapping:

    Yes i could reproduce the described problem.
    Opened a ticket in our developement system.
    We will solve it with one of our next up2dates.
    Point is that the new configuration is done twice: 
    the existing entry is changed and the New is added - this leads to an invalid configuration file.

    jdoebler, do you work for Astaro? Would be nice if all Astaro employees on the forum did something to their profile or signature indicating that...

    however, i am thankful that someone reproduced this. As i mentioned it above i already wrote about this bug a few months ago (i think two times). Astaro could be a little bit more active in this forum...

    It is a bug yes. One that Astaro is aware of, has documented and it working on.

    All else aside, I think it is a tad unfair to expect all Astaro employees to participate on the forum, or even to announce in sig lines they work for Astaro. 
    Kind of like expecting them to do their job all day and then go home to do it for free ? Might be a tad tiring for them at times no? [:)]

    No, it should be part of their day job (even as little as 30min/day) for at least a couple people to watch the forums. No need to work overtime.

    Then knowing if a person does work for Astaro would let us know how reliable that person's information. Maybe it's just me, but I would find that informative.

    I think there are a lot of (beta-) testers in this forum, some of them are active since V5 or earlier (like me). Our 'job' (mostly voluntary) is to find bugs and report them here in these forum, so that astaro can fix them. As reward for this (time-consuming) testing, a small post about a recognized bug is not too much work. It is also a kind of credit that motivates us/me to find more bugs - ignoring does lead to disinterest (in my opinion, the V5-superuser was the best motivation).

    By the way, as a private user, i have no other chance to report bugs than describing it here.

    They do have people that look at these forums, looking for "real" bugs, I'm sure... as we've seen in this thread.  They have to sift, though, through all the "support" type items (often things that can be learned in the manual, etc.)... I've noticed a marked increase in Astaro staff posting here in the past few months when bugs are discovered.

    Hi there, 

    guys i know that it sometimes might seem that the forum is not activly monitored by the astaro staff. But in fact that is not the case, we read nearly every thread and try to help. Astaro employees are encuraged to read and post here if they got the time. 

    Real support cases are a bit more important, sorry but i hope that is understandable.

    The amount of installed ASG systems has increased massively, we are now way beyond the 30.000 system mark and it is sometimes not as easy to find good people fast enough to scale the company with it. We do find them, but slowly.

    With such a large install base, every little bug gets found. 
    As with more than 2000 different configuration options in ASGv7, it is nearly impossible to test every single combination. Therefore from time to time there are issues like this dhcp bug, which have not been tested and contained a bug. 

    Thanks to you, we are able to find and fix them. 

    So thanks to every tester and home user.
