Forcing Uplink Failover

Hi all,

We have two uplinks configured for uplink failover on a pair of ASG320s.

One of the links is having "issues" and I want to permanently failover to the backup whilst the ISP rectifies the issue but I need the link "live" for testing.

What's the best method? Permanently change the ping IP to something unreachable? Or is there a command line method to force the failover and only revert when required?

Ideally we just want to run off one link without going through the reconfiguration of the external interfaces.

TIA,

James

  • Maybe you could try to manually run iptables with a rule that would block outgoing pings on that interface?

That would get reset if you changed any PF rules though, and perhaps other times as well.
