I would like, If possible to be able to see the amount of bandwidth indidual IPs are using in the future?
It's all well and good to see that ip X downloaded Y amount of data. If that user  however downloads it slowly over the course of the day, not a problem if however a user downloads the same amount of data in a lot less time... that's a problem [:)]

Also, is it possible to throttle the bandwidth of individual internal IPs?

Please, please add this feature in an upcoming version.

    Search these forums for IPTraf or NTOP. IPTraf will give you live stats.

    You should be able to do that with Astaro's QOS features.

    Hi Barry.

    Yes both things are possible.
     Unfortunately there is no clean and simple way for doing it.

    For IPTraf  you need to hack in your Astaro (I couldn't find any way to see it directly from the Webadmin,) and I think it is very useful and easy function to add to Webadmin, since it's already exist.

    About using QOS For limiting Ip trafic - you'll have to define each user in the "Definitions", Then group them, and then define them in the QOS.
    If you have quit a few of them (and vary through DHCP), it's getting messy job
    Also, I don't think it's possible to config MAC in the QOS and some time I find it useful.

    PS: Wouldn't be great if you could limit bandwidth per ip?

    Yes, it most definitely would. Especially if you could enforce IP to MAC relationship, lock it in.
    The current DHCP static system doesn't enforce IP MAC relationship allowing people to use legit IPs to access the firewall while their MAC address is banned or not approved.

    Yes, it would be nice if there was more accounting built into ASL. My understanding is that they are working on getting accounting like was in v6 into v7.

    However, I don't think it would ever be real-time through the webmin (I know it's possible with AJAX, etc., but I don't think it's realistic).

    Even NTOP isn't realtime.

    Yes, IPTraf requires some (minor) hacking on ASL... however, it is easy to install, as well as to remove, and as long as you don't set it to record all traffic to a file (for a long period) or something like that, there is extremely little risk.
    If you're not comfortable with modifying ASL, then you can tap into your internet connection and run a sniffer with another computer.

    BTW, ASL does support SNMP queries (every 60 seconds) and you can graph current bandwidth, etc.
    You can also get current connections from it, but if you have a lot of connections it's not a good idea.
