Hello,
Is it possible to use an Astaro v7 like a WiFi access point ?
Thanks, have a nice day,
Olivier

If you mean however can your Wireless device directly attach to it via an Astaro Wireless card, SSID, I believe notAttaching WiFi tranciever cards directly in the Astaro box was supported up to ASG ver 4. It was dropped after that, since there are now a great many little WiFi routers available.
The most secure way to connect a WiFi router to an Astaro firewall, is to have an additional Ethernet interface card in the Astaro firewall for the exclusive use of the WiFi access point. You can turn a cheap 4-port WiFi router into an access point by disabling the DHCP server in it, changing the default IP address in it to something more suitable and then connecting one of the four LAN ports on it to the WiFi interface you installed in the Astaro box.
Wireless Network Interface Types Product Version: 5.000 or later.
Summary:
The firewall has two types of Wireless LAN (WLAN) interfaces that can be configured: Access Point and Station.
In Access Point mode, the firewall will act as a hub for wireless clients that can connect and access the firewall without the need for a stand alone wireless gateway or router. This mode allows for full SSID, Channel, and WEP settings, and can be combined with VPN for ultra-secure wireless connectivity.
In Station mode, the interface will log in to an existing wireless network, and act as a simple endpoint. In Station mode, you can also assign addresses by DHCP. This is not possible in Access Point mode, where addresses must be set manually. Station mode is usually only implemented where the firewall is not hard wired into the network and thus communicates to an access point for connectivity.
