Monitor and kb hookup

I recall 18 months ago when I got my Astaro 220 it being mentioned that the case could be opened and a monitor and keyboard could be hooked up to it for direct console control.  Inside is there a PS2 and monitor connector or is there some sort of special adapter necessary?  If it's a custom interface, any details (pics  [:)]) would be great.  Thanks.

    First a disclaimer:  I would suppose that opening the case might void your warranty --- but I'm a reseller so that hasn't been an issue--- probably would only be an issue if you broke something--- anyway:

    Yes, the ASG 220 used to (I don't recall one of the newer ones I got in having this, though) come with a SVGA 15 Pin cable with a header on it that plugged into the system board -- you do have to open the case with the 4 screws there -- two on the top rear, and two at either side towards the front--- as far as the keyboard goes, they didn't come with a special cable for that, but I have used an USB keyboard-- the only reason I needed it was I have found a few 220 units that did not have the BIOS set so the unit would boot from a USB CDROM drive, which is needed to do a reload or upgrade to 7.x (before the "new" upgrade feature).

    That header cable may be a standard pinout; I don't know, I'm home right now--your reseller probably has a few in a drawer if needed.  The only reason I can think of that you would need these is if, and only if, you can't get the unit to boot off of a USB CDROM Drive, as needed when one does a reinstall.

    Reason #2: As detailed in another thread, had a glitch as part of the upgrade to 7.006 yesterday that spiked my 220's CPU at 100% and kept it there, also seemed to kill any communication with the box including WebAdmin and SSH. Probably could have fixed it with console access, but instead I had to hard reboot the box during the production day. I got lucky and nobody appears to have tried to get to any external resources during that time frame. I figure that it might be nice to have the option in future though if absolutely necessary.
     
    I'll try shooting the reseller an email today begging for a cable. [:)] I don't think they carry Astaros anymore, since there aren't any references to it on their web site now, but I may get lucky.
