V7.005 freezes, needs reboot

I have problems with my Astaro V7.005 running on a Pentium 4 with intel chipset.

every couple of hours internet access is not possible any more.
The Firewall has to be rebooted, to restore internet access.

#top - command shows sometimes loads of 100%, but mostly below 1%.
update-rate of top however is very slow, approx. 20-30s.

#date - command executed several times in a sequence shows, that the time is jumping backwards and forward again.

Log-files in /var/log do not anything special in my opinion. I remember having read something about a clock error or time error, but don't know any more in which log-file.

Is the problem maybe time related?
How can I troubleshoot this further?

    This is an issue which has been reported by other users already (a quick search on the forum should turn up a few hits). I don't know if it's scheduled to be fixed in the next up2date. If you have support, it would be a good idea to open a trouble ticket.

    run top with an update rate of run and see what is killing you.  If it's pfilter-reporte then look for my post about a DOS vulnerability in Astaro..[:)]

    Updating to V7.006 did not help [:(]
    I assume, that a HU-Licence does not allow me to open trouble-tickets.

    I never saw loads higher than 1% even with zero delay in top. And also the pfilter_report is not in the list.

    I have some ntpd problems ??

    What ethernet cards are you using? Are you using HT on the P4?

    As far as I could see, there is no Hyperthreading on this CPU.

    Niklaus, As I mentioned in a previous post, the time jumping around issue and the ntpd error ("kernel time sync error 0001") is a known Linux issue which seems to affect some setups.

    I don't know if Astaro is aware of the issue and as a home user, you can't open an official trouble ticket.

    full ack, installed the up2date on 2 ASG 120 yesterday and both machines died tonight. great job astaro!

    Updating the Bios on my IBM NetVista 8306-klg did also not help [[[:(]]]

    Deactivating the automatic syncronization with NTP also not [[[:(]]] [[[:(]]] 

    As this is already the second hardware I am trying (before a Pentium3 with huge CPU-Load-Problems) I think about using a different Product (maybe IPCOP) to protect my Network.

    I would not have imagined, that it is so difficult, to find Astaro compatible Hardware.

    Is there anything else, I could try to solve this problem.

    What piece of Hardware should I replace, to get rid of the time jumping?
    The Mainboard?

    It's some sort of issue with the mainboard and kernel interaction.

    I would suggest simply installing Astaro v6 at this point, it will likely work very reliably, though it will be missing a few features that v7 supports.
